Session 1 Title: “Taking Charge of Your Time, Work & Life”
(3 hours)
Develop assertiveness skills so you can say no
without feeling guilty! Learn in a relaxed, fun
atmosphere and by the end of this session, you will
have an action plan to manage your time, your
work, and yourself!
The program will cover:
• A day in the life of you
• Where does your time go?
• Managing and prioritizing your tasks
• Use your peak energy
• 80/20 rule
• Procrastination causes and cures
• Decisions, decisions
• Project task log
• Learn to say no (without guilt)
• Assertiveness phrases
• Think before you react (a guide to keeping your
cool)
• Build a solid defense against stress and
pressure
Session 2
Title: "Present Tense "
Situational Ethics: 5 hours
Presenter: Sue McDuffie, Official Court Reporter
Situational Ethics
How to maintain impartiality and discretion in day-to-day contacts and within transcripts. What can you say about someone that can even make ethics fun? As a result of this program you will:
-- be more confident in responding to requests from judges,
attorneys, pro se parties, third parties, and the media.
-- have greater sensitivity to their responsibility to
treat all parties fairly in person and through
transcripts.
-- exhibit heightened awareness of potential problems
when creating parenthetical, cleaning up verbatim, and the like in preparing transcripts.
-- demonstrate improved ability in proofing transcripts.
Also
• Be able to assess situations with clients and others and respond to them with increased confidence and skills.• Be afforded the opportunity for Sue to help you
with difficult situations that have happened to you.
Session 3
Session Title: "Humor Stress, Stress Humor "
Using your sense of humor to fight the daily onslaught of stress in your life: 2 hours.
Presenter: Jeff Justice
In this fun-packed day, funnyman Jeff Justice shows how
to use your sense of humor to stop stress before it stops
you. This laugh-while-you-learn session is chock-full of
all the latest evidence on how stress effects you
mentally and physically.
About Sue
Sue McDuffie is a highly-respected official court reporter in Georgia. She has been teaching workshops for reporters since 1994 and in 1999 began offering a home-study course to court reporters throughout the country. Ask any court reporter who's attended any of our past programs and they will confirm that Sue knows her stuff and is a delight to listen too.Sue has been a guest lecturer for the Georgia Court Reporters Association and for continuing education programs at Georgia State University and the University of Georgia. She has been a member of the Georgia testing committee for court reporters.
